Becca Clayton

Becca is Britney Knighton’s sister, and Olivia’s Aunt and Godmother.

She graduated from UNC-Wilmington in 2010 with a BA in Psychology.  She spent her junior and senior years working in a research lab studying attention and working memory and the potential rehabilitative effects of games and exercise in patients with traumatic brain injuries.

Becca met her husband, Jeff at UNC-Wilmington and their son Luke was born in 2009.  Becca, Jeff and  Luke spent one year living in Charlotte, NC before making the move to Greensboro, NC where Jeff started working for BB&T (now Truist).  In 2012, their daughter Nora was born and Becca enjoyed being able to stay home with her and her brother Luke until they were both in school.

In 2020, Becca started working as a substitute teacher at Summerfield Charter Academy.  In the summer of 2020 she was asked to become a full-time teacher in a Kindergarten classroom at Summerfield Charter.  Becca became extremely passionate about early literacy and the Science of Reading and continues to advocate for quality curriculum and effective early intervention strategies in elementary grades.

In her free time, Becca enjoys reading, painting, spending time with family and friends and caring for her dogs, cats, chickens and ducks.  She loves caring for and rescuing animals. Helping animals was one of her favorite things to do with Olivia, as well as searching for seashells and shark teeth, and working on any and all kinds of craft projects!
